UICSL celebrated LGBTQ+ History Month in October by holding our 4th Annual Two Spirit Powwow. This year’s event, held in collaboration with Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) at the Lifetime Activities Center, had 300+ attendees, food and art vendors, volunteers and powwow staff. Under the Umbrella Bookstore in SLC held a fundraiser to support the powwow and raised $750 to help sustain this event. Thank you to all who supported and attended this event, including UICSL staff, SLCC staff and volunteers. And a special thank you to Arnold & Lisa Lano (flag corps), and powwow staff Chelsea Mohawk (MC), Dustin Shoemake (Arena Director), Michelle Sanchez (Head Dancer), Spirit Wadsworth (Head Dancer) and Scout Society (Host Drum), Grey Hawk, Cliff Eagle, and Stolen Horses, Buffalo Nation drum groups. An extra huge thank you to our Powwow Coordinator Jacob Crane. We look forward to this event next year!
